From Friday 28 November to Monday 22 December 2025, King’s Cross turns into one of London’s most magical festive spots as Christmas under the Canopy returns to the historic West Handyside Canopy – just off Granary Square, N1C. Set beneath a beautiful Victorian steel-and-glass roof, this covered market is perfect for cosy Christmas shopping whatever the weather.
Where it all happens
Christmas under the Canopy sits at West Handyside Canopy, King’s Cross, N1C 4BH, a short walk from King’s Cross St Pancras. The space was once a bustling Victorian food hall receiving produce from trains across the country – today, it’s reborn as a modern artisan market filled with independent makers, street food and festive drinks.
2025 dates & opening times
For 2025, the Christmas market runs from 28 November – 22 December with extended festive hours:
Tues–Wed: 12:00 – 19:00
Thu–Fri: 12:00 – 20:00
Sat–Sun: 11:00 – 18:00
Closed on Mondays – except Monday 22 December, when the market opens for a final festive shopping day.
Entry is free, so you can drop in for a quick lunch, an after‐work mulled wine, or a full evening of browsing and snacking.
What to expect: gifts, makers & festive vibes
Christmas under the Canopy is all about independent makers and quality food. Expect over 50+ stalls across the season, with a rotating line-up of:
Designer-makers & craft stalls – jewellery, ceramics, illustrations, candles, textiles, prints, toys and one-off pieces you won’t find on the high street.
Artisan food producers – cheese, charcuterie, baked goods, chocolates, preserves and pantry treats perfect for Christmas hampers.
Street food traders – global flavours from hot comfort dishes to sweet desserts, ideal for a winter lunch or evening feast under the stars.
The whole canopy is dressed with twinkling star lights and festive décor, creating that classic “cosy under cover” Christmas feel – especially once the sun goes down and the lights reflect off the glass roof.
Food & drink: warm up under the lights
It’s not just about shopping – this is a proper foodie market. You can:
Warm up with mulled wine, hot cider or hot chocolate
Sample craft beer and natural wine from specialist stalls
Try street food from London favourites – think wood-fired, grilled, baked and slow-cooked dishes made to order.
Grab a table under the canopy, listen to the music and enjoy your meal while people-watching in the glow of the lights.
Live music & festive atmosphere
On selected evenings and weekends, the market comes alive with live music – jazz, blues, folk, acoustic sets and more – adding to the warm, neighbourhood feel of King’s Cross at Christmas.
